The number ten with 10 circles around it

Counts 10 objects

One-to-one correspondence is the matching of an object to one and only one number word. It also includes keeping track of objects that have and have not been counted. When developing one-to-one correspondence, children may point, touch, or move objects as they count them. Development of one-to-one correspondence also assists with focusing children’s attention on one attribute of a set of objects, building the stage for children to eventually focus on multiple attributes of sets of objects.
